Handel's Messiah
The Messiah was composed by one of the greatest composers of all time, Handel. Throughout the Messiah Handel uses a technique called text painting, where the musical notes mimic the lines of text. Jennens divided Messiah into three acts, giving the audience a better understanding of the music while simultaneously retaining its opera-like qualities. The most famous and recognizable piece form Handel's Messiah is the "Hallelujah" chorus, ending the second act.
This year the Senior Choir at James Gillespie's High School will be performing the 'Hallelujah Chorus'.
