Rotary International Young Musician
of the
year Competition 2014/2015
To enter this competition please ask the music department for an application form.
Completed Forms should be returned along
with two copies of the relevant music score to. John D. Ritchie, Rotary Club of
Braids, 9 Riselaw Crescent, Edinburgh EH10 6HN no later than 10 October 2014.
Nominations are invited from
instrumentalists and vocalists to participate in the Rotary Club of Braids heat
in the Great Hall of Merchiston Castle School at 7.00pm on Thursday 6 November 2014.
All competitors should be aged between
11 and 17 and should be in full time education at the date of
the club competition. They may be in primary, secondary or tertiary education,
but may not be studying music above Advanced Higher level.
Entrants may complete in one discipline
only and should perform a piece of the own choice lasting no more than five
minutes either vocally or on the instrument of their choice. A piano will be
available in the venue but entrants must provide their own accompanist.
Amplification is not allowed. A copy of all music scores will be required for
the Judging Panel.
The winners will receive a Winners
Certificate and a cash prize. Every competitor is given feedback from the
Judging Panel and a Certificate of Participation which can be included in
development profiles or records of achievement.
The event takes place before a live
audience of parents and other relatives, friends and members of the public. The
winners will be announced at the conclusion of the evening’s performance and
will progress to the Edinburgh Zone Final at Heriot Watt University in February
and if successful, to the District Grand Final at Heriot Watt University in
March.
