African Children's Choir Visit with JGHS

The 38th African Children's Choir arrived at JGHS on Wednesday afternoon and performed a concert and workshops during their stay.  The school had an electric energy when the children walked through the corridors and when they were singing in the hall.

A number of pupils and staff had the opportunity to host the Ugandan choir children and all who were involved were deeply moved by the choir's good manners, and aspirations in life.  The mission of the African Children’s Choir is and has been “Helping Africa’s most vulnerable children today, so they can help Africa tomorrow”.

Here are some examples of the children's aspirations of choir 38:

'My name is Ronny, when I grow up I want to be a pilot.'

'My name is Angel, when I grow up I want to be a nurse.'

Among the choir many dream to become nurses, teachers, pilots, ministers, chiropractor, surgeons, and presidents.  These are their dreams, and through the work of the African Children's Choir the children can achieve these dreams and make a difference in their villages back at home in Uganda.

James Gillespie's High School raised £741 for the organisation during the African Children's Choir visit to the school.  On behalf of the choir JGHS would like to thank everyone who supported the African Children's Choir concert on Wednesday night and the workshops on Thursday.   Special thanks go to our host families who cared for the children and chaperones for two night stay.
