It's that time of year again...open auditions for this year's ESRE band.

Date: Thursday August 31st.
Time: 4:30pm - 6:30pm
Where: St.Thomas of Aquinas

Established in 2001, Edinburgh Schools Rock Ensemble (ESRE) is a group of around 20 talented young musicians, ages 13-18, representing the very best of musicianship in schools throughout Edinburgh and the surrounding areas. Membership of ESRE is by annual audition and the group meets to rehearse weekly during term-time. The ESRE experience delivers confidence-building, teamwork, musicianship, performance skills and fun to talented young people from a wide range of communities, regardless of their background.

The ensemble includes singers, guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboard players, brass players and sound engineers. The students play a variety of classic and contemporary rock and pop music and are tutored by experienced qualified tutors and professional musicians, with occasional support by former ESRE members. Around 60% of ESRE members go on to study music at further or higher education level or work as professional or semi-professional musicians.

ESRE has performed at regular events such as City of Edinburgh Schools “Fanfare” concert and “Battle of the Bands” and one-off events such as the Duke of Edinburgh Awards 50th anniversary concert and University of Edinburgh Graduation Ball. ESRE has recently recorded its 6th annual CD.
